Abstrakt wystąpienia:
With its Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations has set ambitious targets for climate protection, clean energy and water, health and food security /Zero hunger by 2030. Today, cities account for 75% of the planet’s carbon emissions. Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) will play a central role to achieve reduced carbon emissions and contribute to many other SDGs. An integrated approach is required to make more efficient use of food, energy, and water resources within a city. However, the interrelations between the different sectors are quite complex and planning and decision making beyond sectors is challenging. Urban Digital Twins (UDT) and 3D City Models together with urban simulations can be utilized to handle this complexity and will play a major role on the way to sustainable cities. In the presentation, some examples from our research on sustainable cities (iCity project) using UDTs will be given to share our experience in this field.
